Aspects are the angles between planets. They show how different parts of you cooperate — or clash.

How Orbs Work

An orb is the allowed distance from an exact angle. Our calculator uses 8° for conjunctions and oppositions, 7° for trines, 6° for squares and 4° for sextiles, adding 2° when the Sun or Moon is involved. The tighter the orb, the stronger the aspect.

Soft vs Hard Aspects

Soft aspects (trine, sextile) show talents and ease — energy flows without effort, though it can be taken for granted. Hard aspects (square, opposition) show friction that demands action and often produces the greatest achievements. Conjunctions fuse two planets; their tone depends on the planets involved.

Reading Aspects in Your Chart

  1. Start with aspects to the Sun, Moon and Ascendant ruler.
  2. Prioritize tight orbs (under 3°).
  3. Note repeated themes and chart patterns.
  4. Read each aspect as a dialogue: which planet is pushing, which is responding?
