What the Nodes Are
The nodes are the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic. They're always exactly opposite each other and move backward through the zodiac, spending about 18–19 months in each sign.
Reading the Axis
The South Node shows natural talents and habits you lean on; the North Node shows qualities you're developing — uncomfortable at first, fulfilling over time. Balance, not abandonment, is the goal.

The nodes complete a full cycle in about 18.6 years, so nodal returns happen around ages 18–19, 37, 56 and 74. These are often turning points that realign people with their sense of direction.
